You need AWS and Kubernetes and automatic load balancing for uptime they say. A $13 Hetzner server tends to disagree.

I think if you take patching, and therefore regular single-host downtime, as an invariant - don't you need load balancing and/or API-driven scale-out/scale-in at a minimum if you don't want to have planned outages?
