Looking into wood vs plastic chopping boards and I keep finding research stating "per-person annual exposure of ... 49.5 g of microplastics from a polypropylene chopping board". An IKEA plastic chopping board is 210 g. How can you get 50 g of microplastic per year out of one board?

But if you use a wooden chopping board, what is the annual measurement of wooden micro-splinters you'd be exposed to, and are they inherently more or less harmful than microplastics?

It'd disappear in 4 years, just for a single person using it. A 4 person family would "eat" a board every year. Having said that, common sense says to only use wooden ones, but wish these studies would be a bit more reasonable. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37220346/
