macbook pro battery replacement was a win and I refuse to give up on repairing my airpods

The mechanism of my mom's favourite umbrella was a win. Wasn't electric but it would've landed in the "important but broken closet" and eventually in the trash after a while. Next thing on my list is trying to switch the joysticks for hall effect ones in my Playstation controller.

Looking to fix the wheel of my Samsonite luggage. Broke on the first trip I used it...much sadness. I just need to find a spare wheel but that has been hard to track down.

My favorite repair win was replacing some of the old capacitors in my broken TiVo player. My soldering skills were out-of-practice, and while I struggled to desolder the capacitors, I burnt my hand. After I soldered on the new capacitors, I was so happy the TiVo player booted up.

Most daunting repair: hot laptop last summer. Cleaned CPU & GPU and put on PTM7950. Learned it's good to put a clean cut right on the chip edge so starting to peel film up there doesn't pull on overhang & tear the pad (bottom). Now it's cooler.😎 Next: new battery for tablet.

Favourite repair win was fixing the track pad click on my wife's surface laptop 🙌🏻

I would love to fix my iPhone 13 Pro Max! Unfortunately, its screen has turned completely green, but otherwise, it would still be a great phone.

I refuse to give up on my OG Classic Game Boy.

I have a 7-year-old laptop that I love, but it was getting to be useless as a laptop since the battery was shot. I ordered a replacement battery and replaced it—while it was open I realized it only had one stick of RAM, so I found another I had sitting around and doubled it. It’s better than new! 😎

Oh I'd definitely be tempted to replace the battery in my DS to give it new life.

always satisfying to open up a computer mouse and clean out that bit of gunk that's making the scroll wheel feel crunchy when it scrolls and not reliably read when you're scrolling

My late grandfather's 1979 cassette deck is still going strong. Next job is to replace the record/playback head!

I replaced the CMOS battery on my old Sony VAIO VPCL137FX. I refuse to give up on it because it has an HDMI input (where my PS3 is connected to… which, BTW, is another device I refuse to let go). The VAIO is now an air-gapped Windows 7 PC.

I definitely want to try repairing one of those macbook neos given they seem pretty repair friendly. I could also try repasting my macbook given it's got an interesting somewhat boiling sound when it first heats up which I presume is the thermal paste?

I have a Kindle Touch (5th generation overall but first gen that had a touch screen) that I won't give up. It's the perfect combination of portability & readability. A recent jailbreak updated software has breathed new life into it. Hopefully I'll be able to replace the battery when necessary.

My anno ~2008-ish AKG Hearo 777 headset has finally given up and gone mono-only.😑 Hoping it's only the potentiometer that needs to be replaced. It's still too early for it to die for good (I want 10 more years)

looking to soon replace the battery in my old late 2011 macbook pro 8,1 generally pretty hard to get me to give up on anything :3 (no seriously, i would fight with it if i had to lol)

Kal · Apr 23
tech repair win: fixing the buttons, replacing analog cap and battery of my dualshock 3. with your guide ofc i've had other repairs done to my devices but those required soldering for which i don't have the tools nor the capabilities so i can't claim that as my own

My pricey wireless trackball mouse started registering clicks inconsistently, or registering single clicks as double clicks. Looking online I found that the microswitch logitech uses isn't rated for 3.3V, but you can desolder the switches and put new ones in and it'll work good as new.
