Only until the next crazy thing that Elon does on the other side!

I think these things come in waves and cycles. There will be an influx of new users at some point and hype will come up again. It definitely seems like things are calming down though. Personally I'm feeling fatigued by social media in general, so am taking a break.

I’d say so. Most people are back on X it seems

waiting for the next wave now there's some people strolling in from Threads, but there weren't that many real users there anyway

Pierre Mouchan · Jan 13

I don’t think, I still have many more engagements there than X anyway!

Currently yes.

The hype maybe, yes. I suspect a lot of people only came here to check it out briefly and are now nowhere to be seen. But I'm sticking around. Are you, Ilias?

As Simon said, there will be waves. There still are some situations that bring users to Bluesky.

For the people that realized the platform is less game-able so they can't easily shill something they want to sell? Yes it is over for them. For people that are looking for niche communities it is still going strong.

JP Ahonen · Jan 13

I think Bluesky is still, essentially, in early adoption mode. The platform is robust and the community has benefits. But the differentiation factors are underwhelming or ambient. Bluesky, in my opinion, needs something delightful, some new network effect to kick into high gear.

i don't think so, i think it's natural to see the hype decline though. check the trend in 12 months, that'll tell the story

Kostas Livieratos · Jan 13

What plugin do you use in G Trends btw?

Kostas Livieratos · Jan 13

I think it's that sort of thing that is coming and going. The hype is definitely over. Until eg. Trump's inauguration day that a new wave of people might leave Twitter, etc.

I think this stuff is like physical sales. On some days, people are rushing your products. On some days, people aren't. Regardless of what happens, the latter doesn't mean that your business is dead.

Algo needs some improvement, but it’ll continue to grow slowly

Maciek Chmura · Jan 13

Don't think so 🙂 I still get more engagement here. And the stats show stable growth around 1-2 users per second 🙌
