Oaks' unique legal mindset and focus on Justice allows development of a complex tapestry illustrating Jesus' mercy in ways that could expand Latter-day Saint application of Atonement in Pauline ways - but I genuinely wonder if he's afraid it might be used to tip his cherished "Love and Law" balance.
