Two year old tabby-cat, Cassaday, with tiny irises and huge freakin' jade green eyes, has lifted his tiny head to look aghast at whatever his huge eyes see. He looks surprised or mortified, in a way that only a giant-eyed cat is able to.
Another important thing to know is that the trauma to children resulting in C-PTSD (as well as dissociative disorders) is usually deeply interpersonal within that child's caregiving system. Separate from both the traumatic events and the perpetrator, there is often an added component of neglect, hot-and-cold affections from a primary caregiver, or outright invalidation of the trauma if a child does try to speak up. These disorganized attachments and mixed messages from those who are supposed to provide love, comfort and safety - all in the periphery of extreme trauma - can give way to even more unique struggles that PTSD-sufferers alone don't always face. With the following part highlighted (by me, for reasons) in black: "neglect, hot-and-cold affections from a primary caregiver, or outright invalidation of the trauma if a child does try to speak up."

Finn was about 6 months old when she began pair bonding with a feral kitten through the screen door. Cass, on the left, was the kitten from the front yard. He's a tabby with weirdly large green eyes and has the temperment of a puppy dog. They do this pretty much every day.

"Earlier this week—in a story that reads as a perfect encapsulation of abuses by Trump’s immigration enforcement—masked ICE agents roughed up and detained a 71-year-old U.S. citizen volunteering as a legal observer to monitor them at a federal courthouse in San Diego. Grandmother Barbara Stone says she was documenting the detention of asylum-seekers with the group “Detention Resistance” at San Diego’s immigration court when she was baselessly accused of pushing an officer. Multiple masked agents then pursued Stone, grabbed and handcuffed her (leaving bruises), confiscated her phone and purse, and detained her for over eight hours, she says. Once Stone was released, ICE returned her bag but kept possession of her phone. Why? Stone says an ICE agent compared the situation to “a drug bust where they keep a drug dealer’s phone because I had used it in the crime.” But the only “crime” of which Stone says she’s guilty is documenting immigration enforcement. If this is true, the episode would track with other apparent attempts by ICE agents to avoid accountability of late, for instance, by wearing masks so they can conduct raids and arrests anonymously."

Cassady, a young, previously feral, domestic shorthair tabby that our ocicat pair bonded with through our screen door, has found the magic of a navy-coloed heating pad and is partially upside down on it, limbs gloriously akimbo in its warmth.
