Like many new computers, the Compaq ProLinea comes with prein-stalled software (and no diskettes). The preinstalled software includes Microsoft Windows. This brings up an important point — if you need to change the system configuration (for instance, to add a printer or pick a different video driv-er), the Windows SETUP program will prompt you to put in one of the original diskettes. But you have no original diskettes, of course. All the default drivers (those that ship with Microsoft Windows) are available. When the system prompts you for a diskette in the A: drive, simply enter "C: \WIN-DOWS \OPTIONS" to specify the preinstalled subdirectory that contains all the drivers. Bear in mind that NEW drivers (updated printer drivers or drivers for nonstandard equipment) must be installed from the floppy diskettes that come with each new device. The documentation or README files on the diskette(s) should contain instructions. PRINTSHOP FOR WINDOWS. If you have problems with page breaks occurring while you are printing banners on your Panasonic 2124 printer, try the following: Locate the PSD section in the PSDWIN.INI file. PSD- WIN.INI is a text file in the C:\WINDOWS directory. It can be edited with the DOS "EDIT" command, or with Windows Notepad. Change the fourth line to read "SHRINK MARGIN=0". Next, select the Epson LQ-2500 printer driver (instead of the Panasonic driver). This should eliminate the problem.
