A pair of Tak, a kind of alien in the shape of anthro beaked pangolins, rest at the entrance to an alley in an ancient Babylonian setting. Granite, the Tak on the left with slate-gray scales, is wearing typical garb for a bronze-age city guard. He's carrying his spear but it is slung over his shoulder, relaxed. He is offering the other Tak, Itzu, some sort of gyro. Granite is looking down at Itzu with a deep, restrained sadness. He doesn't want Itzu to know how much pity he feels for the bronze Tak. Itzu, the bronze-scaled Tak on the right, is sitting on the pavement in front of an alley. Behind him is darkness and detritus. He's leaning towards Granite but refuses to look up. He looks as if he has something to say, but can't bring himself to say it.

It takes me to the boston creme pie cake I devoured with a bag of hot pockets, to the bag of wendy's cheddar mini-burgers I proudly brought home, to the relapse of my illness due to my poor food cravings. It takes me to the days my husband and I would lose control and tear into what was supposed to be a week's supply of sour strips, the day before we swore never to get the things again. It would still happen occasionally. This is human expression. This is suffering and glory and pain and wonder. This is what we are here for. A grisly cereal. An incandescent soup. A thing of wonder and terror. Immediate satisfaction and long drawn-out pain. I'm glad we're here. I'm glad we can make mistakes.

Two Tak are talking to eachother (A Tak is a kind of anthro dragon-pangolin alien). The straight-horned Tak, drawn in brown, states "I can't believe this is prescribed". His expression is inscrutable but dubious. The other Tak, with curly horns and square glasses, poking his head in from off-frame, says "Just keep at it."

Itzu, an alien known as a Tak, walks up the steps of some pillared building in the ancient Greek style. In one hand he has a lit match. In the other, a can of gasoline, so full it drips. Behind him, more Tak, in various states of distress, run to intercept him. Above Itzu is a quote from the 2000 video game Deus Ex, via deus_ex.txt (@deus-ex-txt.bsky.social): "I guess anyone can be a terrorist, if you think about it."
