"Incidents" and my chronic issues flaring (for 6-ish months) lifed me harrrd this year. Had to mow my activities DOWN, both training + work. I must say, connecting with other creatives—and strengthening existing friendships—has truly been its own amazing reward. I even directed for the first time. Thank you, creators and directors for trusting me with your characters/narrators. Thank you, friends, for being yourselves. Aaand another year of being head over heels for my husband! That guy never hesitated to brave the [gestures broadly at the world and 2025] by my side…and forced me to look after myself without feeling guilty about it. Given the queued announcements I got, I'm more than ready. Bring it, 2026.

Most Mexicans will pack on some pounds during the marathon, and you will be happy to join us if you can! El Maratón Guadalupe-Reyes is what Mexicans jokingly call the streak between the day of the Virgin of Guadalupe (Dec 12th) until Three Kings' Day (Jan 6th). It's a long-winded series of celebrations full of unhealthy, tasty, tasty food. With coworkers, people from your kids' schools (or your school), relatives, neighbors, you name it. Dec 12th marks the start of the posadas: Christmas-themed parties with gift exchanges, caroling, and winter food like tamales, buñuelos, atole, champurrado…you can have posadas with any community you're part of! Beyond the organizers that bring the complex dishes, attendants will either chip in or offer something (even a couple of bags of chips will do) to add to the food variety. The Jan 6th feast with the Rosca de Reyes (Wreath of the Kings) is the last day of the "marathon." You get atole and a slice of wreath. HOWEVER, the wreath has tiny baby dolls in it. If your slice of sweet bread has one, you're "expected" to bring tamales and atole on Feb 2nd (there's usually 5 per wreath, but it's not enforced). If you follow through, though, we won't say no because we always love parties with tasty food. So. Now you know. Keep your eyes peeled for posadas you may be able to join 👀

(Image is a checklist) I thrived another year in a relationship with a wonderful person that encourages me to be a better man. I know myself to be fortunate to see my Grandma make it to 96. I was honored every single time a creator trusted me with their character(s). Every time fellow VA/streamers trusted me with their communities through raids. My fat percentage no longer shows every abdominal muscle, but I've learned how to better manage my stress levels. I still make damn good coffee that satisfies my snob standards (I hope you didn't sleep on this year's crops from Hambela). My 2024 goals are simple (not easy): Stay in the pursuit of being the best, most authentic version of myself yet. Actor more, actor harder, actor better. Decide whether my body will age this year.
