Crazy how the Manchester Metrolink seems to shut down for weeks at a time every summer. This time, most of the network is out of action for three weeks! When people can't rely on public transport, they won't feel comfortable ditching their cars. tfgm.com/tram-improve...

School holidays. We were notified via the eldest's 6th Form. I guess it's the longest period with the biggest reduction in passenger numbers.

I guess it goes back to the original sin of everything going through St Peters Square. But it is insane to shut everything down, including the connections outside of the city centre as well

There’s no convenient time to do maintenance so this is the least worst option due to the reduction in passenger numbers due to school holidays 😌 Croydon and Nottingham trams work on the same basis of taking week or longer closures during school holidays
