I've noticed there's a significant SWP presence at past marches. Are they affiliated with London Trans+ Pride? We have no affiliation with the SWP or any other party, and regularly request that SWP not bring stalls, or distribute branded signs & pamphlets at London Trans+ Pride. We have little means of preventing them from continuing to do so however. We consider any unsolicited promotional activity to be a nuisance, and to detract from the purpose of the day. Don't take their flyers, don't take their signs, they have nothing to do with us.

Health secretary 'felt numb' after meeting Nottingham families Health Secretary James Murray told the Commons he met families taking part in the maternity review last week. He said: "I felt numb after hearing the depth of their pain. I felt even more numb when I considered how many famnilies not in the room went through such a trauma too, and the forgotten children who survived but lived with the consequences of failings in maternity care every day. "Third spaces" The OEO additional impact assessment states both that 1) providers may lack the funding or physical space to provide "third-space" or gender-neutral alternatives; and b) the availability of such **third spaces" may mitigate some of the Code's negative impacts on trans people. In practical terms, what does "confirmation" therefore mean, and how are providers expected to determine this lawfully and consistently? c) Asking questions about a person's sex where this inherently reveals, or permits the inference of, medical history, health status or medical treatment may amount to the processing of special category data under UK GDPR and the ICO's published guidance. Is the Code's position fully aligned with ICO guidance and UK GDPR obligations? d) Furthermore, Section 22 of the Gender Recognition Act 2004 defines information relating to a person's status as a Gender Recognition Certificate holder as protected information. the EHRC consider the current wording of the Code to be compatible with existing statutory protections?

I share the concern in Parliament regarding the EHRC's proposed Code of Practice and the broader direction of equality policy under the Commission. I am concerned by what appears to be an increasingly restrictive interpretation of equality law, alongside a lack of ambition in fulfilling the EHRC"s wider duty to advance equality and human rights. I say this as an elected representative and as a gay man who grew up caring for two disabled parents with a lifelong interest in securing equality. For me, this concerns both the future of the Code and the future role of the EHRC itself. I was disappointed by the tone adopted by EHRC representatives in the parliamentary briefing and the Committee session. EHRC leades aPpeonts creating the impression that elected i reluctant to engage with questions from MPs raising concerns on behalf of their trans representatives were regarded as an inconvenience rather than legitimate participants in scrutiny. This approach is at odds with your own stated wish to avoid these issues becoming further entrenched in culture war politics.
