I am extremely saddened to hear of the tragic death yesterday of a young boy in the Royal Docks. My thoughts and sympathies go out to all his family and friends today, at what will be an exceptionally difficult time. I know that the whole community will join them in their grief and will be devastated to hear what has happened.

Me and my team are in contact
with emergency services as they investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragedy. We are in touch with City Hall and will work with the relevant agencies to ensure his family and the local community receives the support they need.
We must do more to make it safer around the river and docks and ensure that no other family has to go through this ordeal.
