The Staff Engagement and Insight and Voice team have been working together to understand the implications of the For Women Scotland judgment (FWS) and the release of the Independent review of data, statistics and research on sex and gender (the Sullivan Review) on the sex and gender questions asked in NHS England patient and staff experience surveys. To be compliant with the Supreme Court Judgement, we must change our questions, so the Insight & Voice team are undertaking engagement and testing work to develop new questions covering sex, gender reassignment and gender identity. A key element of the new question design process is understanding the needs of data users and stakeholders covering usage now and in the future, any context specific needs or any differences in user needs between different policy or subject areas. We will not name individuals in the reporting but may refer to your role or area of work. The answers to these questions will be collated and will feed into the engagement stage of the design of the questions covering sex, gender reassignment and gender identity.
