@house-of-usher.bsky.social - it appears the whole matter is more complicated than I thought. When your PDS is hosted with bsky, the EXIF info appears stripped; whereas my EXIF info, hosted on eurosky, is intact. Both were submitted with zeens.
I just checked my code. the exif removal is the last step to reduce the size. usually it doesn't happen unless the usual compression is unable to hit the 2mb limit. So, if you upload an image that is already near 2mb, no exif will be removed.
