While in a frame (black) travelling from Sirius (orange) to Earth (blue), you take the shortcut from A to B. Then you match Sirius’s velocity, boosting to a new frame (with lines of constant time in purple). Then, you use the shortcut from B to C, arriving later in that frame but in the past of A
Cool, this diagram is basically what my longer and more abstract response was trying to get at.
