We were able to study the transport of both fermions and hard-core bosons, measuring the currents through the system, and seeing how these responded to turning on a magnetic field or interactions between particles. Below, we see that turning on the magnetic field (b) pushes currents to the edge!

There’s a lot more rich & interesting physics in this setup, too - some in this paper today, and some that I’m still working on (watch this space!). But looking more broadly, our results really highlight the utility of quantum computers as a platform to study open system dynamics.
