On February 28, Operation Epic Fury began under the command of President Trump. This joint United States-Israeli military strike against Iran was calculated, strategic, and surgical. The Iranian regime is the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world, responsible for the death of hundreds of American service members and civilians. I am in complete favor of helping the people of Iran regain their government, achieving peace in the Middle East, and protecting our national interests. The President is permitted to take military action without prior congressional approval in response to an imminent threat or to defend national interests under Article II Commander-in-Chief powers. The War Powers Resolution of 1973 allows this action for up to 60 days before requiring congressional authorization. On March 5, I joined 218 of my colleagues in a bipartisan vote against H.Con.Res. 38, with a consensus to support President Trump in his military actions towards Iran.
