I was training for a marathon in 2019 and was usually getting around an 8:40 pace for my medium runs. This was in Michigan (virtually at sea level). We visited Estes Park and I even still have the note from my little 5k shakeout run in Strava. Lopped a whole minute off my average pace. It's no joke!

This is kind of getting off track of the Azteca meaning of this thread, but I did a three-day climbing trip w/ Japanese friends in the central "alps" in the middle of my training (top alt. 3800 meters) for my first marathon at Tazawako, Akita. I felt a noticeable improvement afterwards.
