Hurontario LRT construction, as seen from above… … showing the stupidity of building it as a surface tramway. The line will cost $300M+/km, more than 2x the cost of fully underground metros in other developed nations…

Will it have the signal priority though

Just you wait until Hurontario Street transforms into a vibrant Parisian neighbourhood thanks to the transformative power of light rail! :P

that land use 😍

I'm a sympathizer etc but given the fact that Canada hasn't yet remotely matched the cheaper price of underground metros for its own metros, it's a bit of a leap to compare the cost to a *hypothetically* cheaper metro we can't deliver.

People underestimate rail. Is it expensive? Yes. But your children's children's children will still be enjoying the economic and ecological benefits of this. Rail is an investment that bears returns FAR into the future (This would be less painful if we weren't less stupidly car-headed for decades)

The wonderful, satirical irony of naming a transit line after Hazel McCallion is delightfully spiteful.

Don't get me started on the transit costs in this country and the rest of the Anglosphere! Should never have allowed P3's in the first place!
