I am going to fucking vent. I woke up with my wife in tears because her dad sent her a message after she called him on Father's Day (where he barely acknowledged her call) saying he didn't feel comfortable talking to her because he "might put his foot in his mouth) Some background. Her stepmom passed fairly recently and for several years before that she'd been becoming increasingly MAGA. Completely Facebook poisoned and posted anti-left, anti-immigrant and anti-trans memes on her page CONSTANTLY. My wife tried to talk to her about how this hurt her for various reasons, not the least of which is that her wife (me, duh) IS TRANS. And she was ignored. She tried to talk to her dad about why those views hurt her. And she was ignored. She tried to talk to her brother about why those views hurt her. And she was ignored. Even before I transitioned I saw how her political/moral views were dismissed by all of them. Her brother has the GALL to be upset that my wife went no-contact with her stepmom saying "she loved her like a daughter" Well, she had a funny way of showing it in her later years. I'm so angry. To them it was "just politics" because they're right-wing straight white people who will survive just fine no matter what so they can't comprehend how it HURTS people who aren't. I want to SCREAM.
