Imagine that traveling between the pink might mean crossing through military checkpoints, sometimes only open for a few hours a day.

Here's a different kind of map I made to get an understanding of what large numbers of people mean - in this case what it meant for more than 40,000 people to be reported dead in Gaza. It groups California census tracts together to get a population roughly equal to 40k and highlights them in orange
