Dear Joshua, You are receiving this email because you attended the National Youth Science Camp as a delegate from Alaska, or you currently reside in Alaska, according to our records. However, Alaska does not currently have a state selection coordinator, so we are reaching out for volunteers. We are about to launch our 2026 National Youth Science Camp selection process! The last few years of Science Camp have been really focused on rebuilding the relationships and traditions post-pandemic, while also introducing opportunities for new ones. Last summer was the first time we returned to full state representation after the pandemic. For states without selection coordinators like yours, delegate applications were reviewed by a combination of NYSAcademy staff and alumni volunteers. In our updated model moving forward, we’d ideally like one alum to serve as the official state selection coordinator, working with additional alumni to review applications. The state selection coordinator role is primarily about encouraging students to apply through our online portal. You can work with community organizations, schools, and/or STEM-related programs in your state, and the NYSAcademy staff can help supply materials or provide additional support. Reviewing applications is primarily about following our rubric to score applicants. If you are interested in serving as a selection coordinator or a reviewer, please let us know via this Google Form.
