La Société immobilière du Canada souhaite vous faire part d’une mise à jour importante concernant son rôle dans l’appui aux priorités du gouvernement du Canada en matière de logement. Les activités immobilières de la Société, y compris le pré Tunney et les projets en cours dans l’ensemble de son portefeuille élargi, sont transférées à Maisons Canada (MC), l’organisme fédéral chargé de la mise en œuvre des programmes de logement du gouvernement du Canada. Créée en septembre 2025 par le premier ministre Mark Carney, MC réunit sous un même toit terrains publics, expertise en matière de développement et partenariats afin d’accélérer la construction de logements indispensables, notamment de logements abordables, partout au Canada. Depuis plus de 30 ans, la Société immobilière du Canada transforme les biens immobiliers fédéraux excédentaires en collectivités dynamiques et complètes, en partenariat avec les municipalités, les communautés autochtones, les constructeurs et les fournisseurs de logements abordables. Cette expérience, associée au portefeuille national de projets immobiliers de la Société et à ses relations de longue date, contribuera à la réalisation de la mission de MC. À mesure que le processus d’intégration avance, les projets, accords, travaux de planification et relations existants, y compris ceux qui concernent le pré Tunney, se poursuivront. La Société immobilière du Canada Limitée sera une société d’État axée sur les attractions touristiques, dont le portefeuille comprend la Tour CN, le Vieux-Port de Montréal et le Centre des sciences de Montréal, tandis que le Parc Downsview sera transféré à MC. The Company’s real estate operations, including its Tunney's Pasture site and active projects across its broader portfolio, are being integrated into Build Canada Homes (BCH), the Government of Canada’s federal housing delivery organization. Created in September 2025 by Prime Minister Mark Carney, BCH brings together public land, development expertise and partnerships to accelerate the delivery of much-needed housing, including affordable housing, across Canada. For more than 30 years, Canada Lands Company has transformed surplus federal properties into vibrant, complete communities in partnership with municipalities, Indigenous communities, builders and affordable housing providers. This experience, along with the Company’s national real estate portfolio and long-standing relationships, will support BCH’s mandate. As the integration moves forward, existing projects, agreements, planning work and relationships will continue, including those connected to Tunney's Pasture. Canada Lands Company Limited will continue as an attractions-focused Crown corporation, with a portfolio that includes the CN Tower, the Old Port of Montréal and the Montréal Science Centre, while Downsview Park will transition to BCH. This change represents an evolution of Canada Lands Company’s work and will help advance a broader federal effort to deliver housing for Canadians.

Update: I have gotten confirmation from the City that those were the unexploded shells from Canada Day. It was deemed by Canadian Heritage that it was safer to dispose of them that way rather than dismantle and move them, so they took this step in conjunction with Bluesfest. I'll say for the moment that those seemed to have been let off over a very compressed timeframe and so were very intense. Coming off the very intense storms we just had, and the general discomfort that people are feeling in a very unsettled time, the decision to take this step with no notice that I can discern is hard to understand. I will leave it there for the moment as I continue to pursue this with the City.
