When a client writes, the change flows up to its edge, fans out to the other clients on that edge, and continues up to the global core. From the core it cascades down through the other edge to its clients. Simultaneous writes from different clients, and successive writes from the same client, all converge and every node ends up showing the same state.

Two loaves of sourdough bread, amateurly baked. The one in front is a 100% wholewheat with rustic cracks on top, baked in a loaf tin. The one behind is a white loaf, with some oven spring but not much, and inadequately scored towards the right hand side. The bit where the scoring has taken well looks fairly decent with a good ear and evidence of a decent rise in the oven.
