Created by writer and artist Peter David and Mike Deodato, the Thunderbolts squad debuted in a 1996 edition of The Incredible Hulk, as the ill-advised brainchild of Baron Zemo and the Masters Of Evil. At various points in the comic books' storylines, they've also been co-opted by government spooks to do their dirty work - with, ahem, mixed results.
