The city was offering to plant free street/sidewalk trees for anyone who would take care of them when I moved in here four years ago or so. I took them up on it and they gave my this shitty bottlebrush that I studiously took care of. Most of these “city” trees in my area have since died, so I’m glad mine is still blooming and growing, if not exactly flourishing
