26/7/22: Ben Carrillo, Dreamer (2025) & Hijo de Jah (2026) Chapín-American urbano singer, at it for a decade; I only recently noticed. The 2025 album has rock influences, righteous immigrant rage, and some English; the 2026 album is loverboy reggae. A singular combo of Benito, Drake, and Mraz.

26/7/23: Larissa Luz, Desmonte (2026) Brazilian singer from the state of Salvador whose shtick is adding crunchy heavy-metal textures to every song she sings, whether the underlying rhythm is samba, pagodão, reggae, jazz-funk, hip-hop, or what have you. Some good expressions of afrocentric rage.
