Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, members of ADAPT organized rallies, blocked buses, challenged discrimination in court, and demanded equal access to public transportation, housing, and community life. Their persistence helped pave the way for the Americans with Disabilities Act and advanced the fight for dignity, independence, and opportunity for millions of Americans.
