Trying to sew up your past

You've grown up with earthquakes
Constant tectonic shifts
How can you stand the shaking?
How do you not feel adrift?

How does one stand away
While staying so close?
How can I be near you
While you learn to be alone?

There are so many cracks
In all our lives
The plates run so close together
Which is yours, which is mine?

And so I guess I'll miss you
It's what I've got somehow
Of course it won't heal you
But you're healing you now
