April US transit data is in today, & all of the 10 largest US rail networks are growing! SF is seeing a real boom, with ridership up 17% on Muni & 15% on BART SEPTA (Philly, 10%) and PATH (NY/NJ, +7%) are also seeing strong growth, while MTS (San Diego, +0.8%) is the slowest🧵

I can't wait for LA metro May/June numbers what with the d line extension coming online 😍 Anecdotally, the new segment seems busy and I really hope that's reflected in the initial numbers!

Why are the top 10 based on 2025 ridership and not the ridership of the period you’re analyzing? Love your work!!

Great news. Assume gas prices are partially responsible?

How the fuck is SEPTA still growing that much with frankly often dog shit service is genuinely amazing

The very first full month of data on Seattle Link's line 1 & 2 connection is in today, and ridership has surged up 49% compared to this time last year, hitting a new record high! Seattle Link moved 4.7M passengers in May, breaking its previous record by nearly 1M

Wonder how gas prices will affect this if the strait is still closed by the end of July

Someone please explain to me why Seattle isn’t on this one

Is any of this people staying off roads to avoid ICE and other feds?

Glad to hear. Interesting as the scuttlebutt coming out of the Bay Area lately is that BART is dying.

Is this year over year or Q4 to Q1?

🤞 we in the SF Bay Area don’t shoot ourselves in the foot in November by not funding mass transit.

Even exchange for the interstate system! Public rail vs private interstates! This is the Rail Oligarchy's best chance

One of the positive things to come from gas being over $6 a gallon.

guy who thinks AI is good because they’re locating their offices in transit rich areas and driving ridership growth
