Potential complications have arisen during negotiations, which involve a complex web of issues that include hotel rooms, tickets, insurance, NIL rights and the mandatory-participation agreement proposed by the league that would place players who run afoul of requirements on the restricted list, without pay or service time, from July 12 to Aug. 3, according to a copy of the league's proposal obtained by ESPN. MLB's aim at mandating participation, sources said, is to ensure a showcase on the world stage includes game's biggest stars, from Japan's Shohei Ohtani to New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge. Beyond balking at compulsory involvement for all players, the MLBPA strongly opposes a deal that would allow placement on the restricted list as well as commissioner Rob Manfred's ability in the agreement "to discipline for just cause" with "a fine and/or unpaid suspension," according to the league's proposal.

Full Report Lowrance is a big-framed lefty stick with exciting power projection and a pretty solid showcase track record, albeit one that came against slightly lesser opponents and fastball velocity than his elite peers. Though he's a long-levered 6-foot-5, Lowrance's swing is actually quite compact, and he's a great high-ball hitter with lovely natural loft through the top of the strike zone. He doesn't have especially great bat speed or power right now (his Combine BP also wasn't as loud as hoped), and his multi-year spray chart has a warning sign; Lowrance is struggling to pull the ball. To the eye, Lowrance's barrel feel is only fair, and he hasn't shown an ability to dip into his lower half to cover soft stuff down and away from him. He's also a big guy who, despite above-average straight line speed, doesn't move well laterally on the infield and has an odd throwing stroke from third base. This is still an exciting high school prospect who could go in the late first round because if teams believe in Lowrance's hit tool, it won't matter what position he plays.
