Books! Left to Right, Top to Bottom: 1) (finished) The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar. This is just a must-read novella. So beautiful. So finely crafted. The language and grammar are magic. (That will make more sense once you've read it.) 2) (finished) Black In Blues: How a Color Tells the Story of My People by Imani Perry. You will never ever regret diving into the poetics and mind of scholar Imani Perry. My favorite of hers will probably forever be her work on hip-hop, but this one's gotta be up there. 3) (starting tonight) Rose/House by Arkady Martine. (I love that the novellas are really coming into their own right now.) Her two bigger novels are up there on my favorites list of queer sci-fi, particularly because of the world building and politics of them. Really looking forward to reading this 4) (current, about 2/3) Hijab Butch Blues: A Memoir by Lamya H. Holy hells is this book clarifying things about me to me. Love it, highly highly recommend.
