Three or four children, who were unwell, were brought tome by their parents for medical assistance. As I did not think fit to disappoint them, I sent one of the gentlemen for a vial of Turlington. He brought me Laudanum. Considering the one of equal virtue with the other towards a cure, I mixed a few drops of what he brought with water. In this mixture I dipt my finger which I gently applied to the forehead of the sick. Believing no doubt in miracles within a few moments, there were upwards of four score applicants for a touch of my fin-ger; and had we remained any length of time, I have reason to believe the whole camp, which exceeded 1200, would have followed the example. Most of the children were really afflict-ed with some serious disorder which reduced them to skeletons. The women of this tribe had the neatest dress of any we have seen in this quarter.
While the new school will be state-of-the-art with future-facing technology for simulated lab spaces, artificial intelligence and virtual reality, it will stay true to SFU’s core mission set out decades ago – to inspire creative, analytic thinking in students that can benefit the community and impact the province.
