This is artwork of Role, from this year, 2026. She's a vulpix, zorua, nickit hybrid. She sits on her haunches with a smile! There's design notes around which are as follows: Firey tuft of fur, very vulpix. but shaped like zorua's, too! Her cheek fluff is very zorua. Dark tail tips, like nickit's! Teardrop facial markings, also like nickit's! 3 tails (that's easier to draw repeatedly; important if you're making a comic!) The mantle she wears has triangles from calyrex but that's for story reasons. It's an accessory, not part of her body! Front paw "gloves" come from nickit, though with the zagzag of vulpix! Red-orange paws, to evoke zorua's red. (and also to balance her color palette since her tails aren't orange like vulpix.)

Danny, a Torchic and the leader of Rescue Team Emberites, is having a sad day. She's huddled up and crying. Her partner, Razr the Treecko, shields her from the rain with a large leaf.
A blue mew floats in the void. They face away, leaving the beholder with only the stoic view of their back. "Still here? ... Well, I try not to show it much... But I'm really, REALLY scared..." They shiver, holding their chest. A dark, almost bloody-looking aura, emanates from their front. This must be an effect of the void, an ethereal Realm Beyond Worlds. The dark aura fades as they straighten back up. "So I want you ask you this one more time..." Turning their head behind themselves, the mew holds their tail as they look to the beholder with a tear in their eye, and a wavering smile. "Just to be sure."
Effie, the Espurr mascot for the site Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Fanfiction, recreates the "TWO CAKES!" meme but instead of a knife & fork, holds a phone and a mouse connected to a laptop. And the two cakes are now made up of the site's default story covers. THE EFFIE: "HOLY FIC! TWO YEARS!"
Somewhere, hopeless and beaten up within a Mystery Dungeon in a rocky hellscape, Team Ultra lay. Madoka shakily stands up, the flames on her back erupting in sheer determination. "hhhhh hhurts. it hurts. but... but my partner hurts too. hhhh i can't... hhh hhhhh i... I WON'T GIVE UP!!!" She holds a Pounce Wand, ready to keep fighting. Her Partner Daigo, tearfully tries to reach out. "Maddie..."

"Mai, Master Alchemist". She is a Hisuian Zoroark from my soon-to-be Pokémon Mystery Dungeon comic. Her mane's shape is designed to evoke a witch hat, as well as Darkrai. Darkrai design elements can also be found on her chest fluff. On her left ankle she wears beads with some petals attached. These are patterned off of Calyrex, who is another character from the story. The backdrop has her name written in both Footprint Runes and Mystdian Script (both cases, my version of a writing system for the PMD world.)

Mr. Nuzleaf screams at Madoka (the amnesiac Cyndaquil hero), who is dazed from running into him. Nuzleaf: "HEY! Ya can't just go all nose-joustin' with random pokémon, that's just reckless!"
[Panel 1] "Oh this? It's just a small prototype for this dumb idea of mine, heh heh..." A shy, bespectacled Flaaffy sheepishly looks upon a mess of electrical components he'd been working on. [Panel 2] Medicham and Ekans of Team Meanies are bullying our poor Flaaffy! Medicham is holding his glasses out of reach, while Ekans does the same with a strange circular electrical tablet with orbs on its sides. Flaaffy: "p-please give those back..." [Panel 3] Later, we see that Flaaffy got his belongings back, thanks to an unnamed Rescue Team! Flaaffy: "As thanks for all your help, I'd like you to have my Prototype Gadget. It can keep track of your Rescue Team's jobs & recruits!" He presents to them the tablet with the 6 orbs. The top orb has a pair of antennae. In the tablet's the center is a monochrome screen with a Command Line interface. Rescuer Ralts: "Thank you!" Rescuer Snivy: "Nice." [Panel 4] Flash forward to the future, where our now-confident Flaaffy sets the stage for his soon-to-be calling as Ampharos, Chief of the Expedition Society! He strikes a pose with sparkles in his eyes! Flaaffy: "From now on, whatever I do, I'll do it DASHINGLY!" A certain Jirachi is floating around, amused. Jirachi: "One wish for boldness and suddenly you're all that, huh?" By the way, Flaaffy stepped on his glasses, breaking them. It's unclear whether it was an accident or he did this on purpose.

( a PMD textbox, monologue continued from previous ) I lost track of time, my nerves got the better of me. I just... have such a difficult time focusing, especially when so much is going on I can't fully think straight. Some 'hero' I'd be, huh?
An Axew & Tepig, Andrea & Dork, sleep on their hay beds. It's dark. Andrea: "mmmumble Y'know? I look forward to seeing whatever secret plan you've got for #PMDDay... I know PMD means a lot to you & you worry whether you're as "good at proving it" as the other humans. But, you've got people who care so much about you. Even if you didn't shine on their level as a superstar. You still shine. I know you do. Even if fewer people see." The Tepig awakens to cry. Dork: "I don't have anything... not good or finished anyway"
In front of a swirling psychic energy backdrop, a blue mew floats somberly. They are, as the text label says, "Amui, the Life Bringer". Their name is also shown in Mystdian script (a conlang for my PMD setting). And to the side, their deadname crossed-out.
a screenshot of a writing vignette I once did for a challenge (i never completed) “Our team doesn’t appreciate goin’ unpaid...” A shiftry growled threateningly. He and his Rescue Team, Team Shifty, were in a pitched argument with their rescued clients, a plusle and minun, in front of Pokémon Square Post Office’s Rescue Bulletin Board. Though to call it an argument might be generous, as the petite clients were cowering before the Team’s intimidation. “W- we’re so sorry! We don’t have the money b-but if you’d find it in your hearts to uh, take partial payment now and we’ll get the rest later?” the plusle stammered. “Think we’re some darn-tootin’ charity!? Y’all are gonna scrape up our full payment right now or we’ll be happy to deliver the both o’ ya’s right back to the depths of the dungeon we found you in!” Shiftry wasn’t having any of it. His cohorts, a pair of roughneck nuzleafs, chuckled at the prospect of making an example out of the terrified pokémon. Fortunately for the crying clients, at that moment a treecko exited the Post Office building.

The equations floating around her head are in Mystdian Footprint Runes. 8: JUMPSCARE - Role, so high-strung & light, literally jumps in shock, only her paws and tails visible in frame. 9: Disappointed, slightly angry - With her ears slightly down, Role sure does have that expression. 10: Yay! - Role poses playfully with a sunny smile! 11: Knows the answer to this question - Role tilts her head up, answering with a big smile. 12: Does NOT know the answer - Role shies away, panicked and shrinking back some. 13: Irritated - Role's hunched down, shaking, and with a vicious look in her eyes. 14: Perfectly content - Role standing neutrally with a contented smile. 15: VERY angry - Role lunges her head forward with a yell, eyes scary, all teeth bared, and making a "cut throat" gesture with her paw.

Said partner, Razr the Treecko, holds out a Rescue Badge while striking a heroic pose (this pose'll someday be seen as incredibly heroic, totally, right?). [Panel 1] In what is a total reference to the Moon Knight meme, Madoka the Cyndaquil throws a lot of items out of her item bag, shouting... Madoka: "ITEM BULLSHIT, GO!!". The items she throws are a Slow Orb, Warp Seed, Iron Spike, Stun Seed, and Blast Seed! [Panel 2] Daigo the Chikorita follows suit, though with a bunch of high-power Moves instead. Daigo: "ANCIENT POWER! BARRIER! AND SOME ENERGY BALL SNIIIIPE!" All three of the Moves are shown, with the Barriers surrounding them, the Ancient Power fossils floating and boosting all of their stats, and the Energy Ball dramatically flying past the the corner of the panel! [Panel 3] Here we see the duo continuing their absolute rampage in the dungeon Revelation Mountain. The various dungeon Pokémon can are basically sitting ducks after the effects of all they've been doing. Meanwhile, Nuzleaf looks on. Daigo (firing more Energy Balls): "SNIPE!" "SNIPE!" "SNIPE!" Madoka (waving a Slumber Wand and firing an Ember at a Bagon): "BURN! EMBER!!" [Panel 4] Focus in on Nuzleaf, quizzical and slightly disturbed. Nuzleaf: "... Them kids ain't right."

Emeras are teardrop-shaped gems from Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. This custom one, the Zenith Emera, is a dark purple color with a black core, and sparkles inside that resemble stars.
[Panel 1] As the morning sun pours through the windows, even the weird elongated one, Andrea the Axew, having breakfast at the dinner table, watches their Partner and Best Friend (and former human), Dork the Tepig, wake up. Narration: The Morning After an All-Night Party. Paradise, Mist Continent. [Panel 2] Very dizzy & dehydrated, thanks to the aftereffects of the night before, Dork winces at the sunlight beaming across her face. Dork: ooouuughh my head... the light... FUCK! [Panel 3] Dork: "eep!" Suddenly realizing the jarringness of what she said, Dork snaps to attention, covering her mouth with her hooves. [Panel 4] Dork: "W-well, I hope the ESRB didn't hear that. ha ha... ha." Her dizzy state has now been replaced by sheepishness.

[Panel 1] From an underground vantage point, light streams in through the grate above. This is the Sentry Duty shaft for Wigglytuff's Guild. Snake: "Hey Cia? If I may...?" [Panel 2] At the bottom of the shaft, are the two Pokémon assigned to Sentry Duty this day. Cia the Chimchar and her partner, Snake the Bulbasaur. Cia is focused on her duty of looking up, to identify any vistors. Snake however, sighs, looking forlorn. Snake: "I gotta be honest. I didn't realize Guild life would have days like this. Where we're kind of barely doing anything adventurous. And I'm not taking it so well..." [Panel 3] Snake: "Sentry Duty is important an' all, but I thought joining such a prestigious Guild, they were gonna prepare me to be a top-notch Explorer. Who'd go on many big adventures, just like those in the stories I read all the time as a kid. With an expression of fond reminiscence, Snake appears next to various types of reading material from his past. The detailed descriptions for these books can be found at the end, for screenread pacing. [Panel 4] Cia, still looking up, seemingly responds to Snake's monologue. Cia: "Ditto." [Panel 5] Snake is surprised. Snake: "Huh, really? You also?! Wait. How do you know what you read as a kid if you have amnes-? Cia nervously stares at something dripping down from above. It seems she was talking about something else entirely. Cia: (not speaking loud enough) "I really think we should..." [Panel 6] A Ditto falls onto our heroes with a SPLAT! The goopy Pokémon fell through the grate! Cia covers tries to block the impact while Snake is covered in the goop, annoyed. Snake: "Oh." The Ditto looks sheepish at this whole ordeal. Nuzleaf is in an authoritative explaining pose as he scolds Madoka. Nuzleaf: "Y'all know ya can't go an' death glare at your fellow children, right?" Madoka: "They are NOT my fellow children, I'm an adult." Her pose and expression show her pouting, which is not helping her case. Nuzleaf: (sarcastically) "Sure ya are."
[Panel 1] During downtime at the Serene Village school, Pancham and Shelmet are bullying Madoka, a tiny Cyndaquil who just so happens to be the Hero of Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon's story. Pancham has one paw atop Madoka's head while poking her face with the other. Shelmet's blowing a raspberry. And Daigo, a Chikorita who's Madoka's best friend and Partner, shouts in the background. Pancham: "What's s'matter, pipsqueak? Little Miss 'Good-in-Dungeons' too scared to fight mean ol' Pancham?" Shelmet: "Ha ha! Madoka the wiiiiimp~!" Daigo: (distantly & ineffectually) "Guuuuuys stop picking on her! I'm gonna tell on you!" [Panel 2] A close-up of Madoka's face. Shelmet: (offscreen) "Awww look, she's trying not to cry!" Pancham prepares to pull Madoka's eye open. Pancham: "Let's see what you eye looks like!" [Panel 3] Pancham pulls Madoka's eye wide open. She glares up at Pancham with extreme ferocity. This death glare is even accompanied by dramatic zoom lines and "ゴゴゴ！！" onomatopoeia! Subtitle: <DOOM!!> [Panel 4] Atop a backdrop of glooming fear, Pancham and Shelmet look terrified. Daigo the Bayleef playfully pokes their head into the room.) Daigo: Heyyy, Madoka~ Ready for our usual adventurin' today? Madoka: Can't It's that time of month. Time for the call back home. [Panel 3] (On the monitor, we see that the Expedition Society is set up to somehow be able to video call the human world.) Madoka's Mom: Hiii!! Madoka: Hi Mom. Mom: It's been so long! Well, maybe just for me, haha. [Panel 4] Mom: I'm still going at it, with the Doctor career. All your siblings are off being successful. Sooo... do you know when you're going to come visit again? (Madoka puts a paw behind her head, tiredly responding.) Madoka: It's been 10 years... I don't know if there is a way back. (she mumbles under her breath): just establishing this phone line was hard enough.

An Emboar named Dork, who I was in PMD Gates to Infinity, holds copies of each of the PMD games (North American releases, anyway), presenting them to the other PMD protagonists (from my playthroughs). They are, clockwise from bottom-right: Danny the Combusken from Red Rescue Team, Cia the Infernape from Explorers of Darkness, Daniel the Blaziken from Explorers of Sky, and Madoka the Quilava from Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon.
Panel 1: Danny the Torchic is doing some Rescue Team paperwork. Razr the Treecko walks up to her, shivering from a draft blowing in. Razr says "Hhhhey Danny... It'ssss... a really cold one out there today. Panel 2: Danny looks up with a relaxed smile to Razr, who is still shivering. Razr says: "Is it alright if...? I ask for a hug? You're a torchic and I heard that uh... hugging you would be really warm!" Danny responds: "Oh! Um, sure go ahead!" Panel 3: Razr scoops Danny up off the floor into a big hug! He exclaims a large "THANK YOU!" Panel 4: Razr's cuddling with Danny on the floor, the small bird still firmly in his hug. Danny realizes she's going to be there a while, but is fine with it, smiling in comfort & happiness. She says: "Hey it's... uhh... no problem. Happy to help!
In the deep depths of the pit of Dark Crater, the leader of Exploration Team Crimson, a Chimchar named Cia, is in shock and disbelief as his partner and best friend, Snake the Bulbasaur, has seemingly switched over to Darkrai's side! How could his friend take Darkrai's offer to rule the world together? To plunge the world into frozen darkness just to save himself!? This can't be... but... if you've played any version of PMD Explorers, perhaps you know the whole truth of this scenario. The composition has Darkrai, with villainous gesture, showing off how Snake's joined his side. Snake's got an expression of trying to appear friendly to Cia, but his fear is disrupting his attempt at a smile. Both Darkrai & Snake are lit in a way to frame them both in shadow (or at least, that is what I attempted, back when I drew this.). Cia meanwhile, is relegated to the corner of the composition, with only her shocked expression visible.
