View from my bicycle handlebars early this morning. The sky is still dark, and either sides of the green veloway are lit up around me with small, shoulder-height white lights. The Tollway looms overhead with the decorative waveform of orange stick lights and the Melbourne Wheel is lit up in a cadmium blue-green colour, barely visible between layers of road bloat. The bike path ahead of me is reflective with rain and a light splash from my front wheel is illuminated by my headlight.

The cap off an Electra dingaling bell. Most of the bell is chrome, with the Electra badge over a crimson background and adorned with a gold crown. There are still some small rust spots but imagine most of this thing covered with muddy red-brown and you've got the "before" picture.
Bookmark 1: One of these days I am going to finish that other book that I was reading before I started this one. It's not my fault they made two good books. 2: Books are like ammunition for your brain. Load your brain with bullets and destroy your enemies with your mind. 3: It's okay to make out with a book if you love it.

The kids bike is up in the stand with new parts installed. The new brake lever is all silver instead of black and silver, and the new cable housing is black instead of grey. But you know what? You pull the lever and the brakes work.

The frame of the bike is still mostly unscathed, except for a bit of wear by the shifter cable.
