Omgekeerde vlaggen oké, maar waarom hangen boeren een Confederatie-vlag uit? Redactie Trouw 15 juli 2022 Waarom worden er Confederatie-vlaggen uitgehangen? Voor omgekeerde vlaggen en boerenzakdoeken als symbolen van protest kan ik nog wel enig begrip opbrengen (Trouw,13 juli). Maar waarom in Barneveld en omstreken steeds vaker de Confederate Flag wordt uitgehangen, gaat mijn verstand te boven. Nota bene de vlag van de zuidelijke staten in de VS die de slavernij wilden handhaven. Het is een schande, of liever het bewijs dat sommige Veluwse boeren geen notie van de (Amerikaanse) geschiedenis hebben. Elke keer als ik zo'n vlag zie, zou ik de onbenullen die hem uithangen strafcollege willen geven.
