Thank you for contacting me regarding your concerns about the NHS’s use of Palantir software. I understand your concerns, especially given some of the views expressed by leading figures at Palantir. However, the huge benefits the software is bringing to the NHS’s ability to save lives, and the strict laws in place to protect data from being used for other purposes, lead me to believe this contract is a good deal for British people. The Federated Data Platform contract (FDP), awarded under the previous government, is a critical part of the NHS’s future. It makes sure that patient records are joined up from one provider to another, and allows the NHS to run more efficiently and effectively. Since the contract began, the system has delivered more than 110,000 extra operations and cut the number of patients waiting more than 28 days for a cancer diagnosis by 6.8%. The data being used is owned by the NHS not Palantir. There are strict laws in place that mean Palantir are not able to use that data for any other purpose. The data can not be shared with anyone else.

the digital ID discussion in the UK is hilarious as a citizen i have 3 different forms of physical id A unique login and password for Tax/HMRC jobseekers (old welfare) Universal credit (new welfare) medication (NHS) medication (third party service to access the same functions as NHS but my local practice only allow me to order medication online through it for some reason) Student Loans DVLA (driving) Endless theoretical logins for age verification services to access content the government deem adult would this be better centralized for convenience as a UK citizen, tie it all to one national ID i can access wherever and whenever yes would I trust the UK Government to manage and handle it correctly without abusing the data, systems or generally have a working secure service based on history of thier online services and exploitative contracts with data brokers and dodgy tech companies absolutely the fuck not is it inevitable that it will be established yes at least Palantír declined the contract...
