A floral patterned armchair (it reminds you more of an aunt than a grandmother) sits behind a matching footrest in an empty corner of a white room. (Well, empty, save for a wall vent; it's possible something might be lurking just within, looking out at you from this photograph.) There's sun coming through an unseen window, casting the chair and footrest's shadows along the blank wall. It almost looks like the furniture's ghosts are whispering to each other. Nothing happens in this photo, and yet there's an odd tension to it, isn't there? Perhaps it's because of how the footrest sits just a touch too far from the chair. Or perhaps it's the vacuum marks in the beige carpet, which pairs with all the empty whiteness to communicate a sense of intentional abandonment. All that's known for certain is that this chair and footrest are trapped within this corner as surely as they are trapped within this photograph. I wouldn't gaze at them for too long, though. You might get ideas about joining them for a seat.
