Phtheochroa sodaliana (Pied Buckthorn Beauty). If it wasn't for the Oecophora bractella I think this may have taken 1st place in the best looking competition. Categorised as Nationally Scarce B (recorded in 16-30 hectads) and scarce in Norfolk too, mostly seen in the Brecks & Broads.
Brown Scallop (Philereme vetulata)
Dotted Footman (Pelosia muscerda) This species is classified as Nationally Rare (meaning it is only recorded in 15 or fewer hectads). It is pretty much restricted (nationally) to the Norfolk Broads. We caught several across the 5 traps that we set.
Lempke's Gold Spot (Plusia putnami) This species is very similar to Gold Spot (Plusia festucae) but generally prefers damper, wetter areas. Consequently in Norfolk it is very much a Broadland species. Due to similarity with Gold Spot, photographs are required away from this area when submitting records. All of the individuals we encountered were ascribed as Lempke's, the pictures in this post are of three different individuals. Flame Wainscot (Senta flammea) A reedbed species with a stronghold in the Broads. Classified as Nationally Scarce
Blotched Emerald (Comibaena bajularia) A lovely green moth with characteristic pale brown blotches (for camouflage?) in the corners of each wing, resting on an egg tray.
Oecophora bractella (Beautiful Bark Moth). A small micro moth, the front half yellow, the rear half mostly black with a yellow spot at ¾ on the leading edge of the forewing. The black areas have blue iridescent lines/blotches in the right light. Resting on an egg tray facing right. This is the species I was hoping to see, I could barely believe it when Mick spotted one on just the third egg tray of the morning!!! Such an amazing encounter, I spent 45 wonderful minutes watching it and taking far too many photos! And would you believe it, in the last (5th) trap of the morning Mick revealed another individual in the bottom of the trap on one of the last trays to come out. 🤯

Notocella sp. trapped overnight 21/5/26 in Norwich VC27. It's just over 10mm long, so wingspan c20mm. This would indicate rosaecolana. However, I'm wondering if there are enough costal strigulae and whether they are fine enough for this species or whether it might be trimaculana? My confession stems mostly from the other individual in this post - see ALT on that pic. For what it is worth, ObsId is 100% rosaecolana.

Tachystola acroxantha (Australian Orange-tip) an adventive species, first recorded in the UK in 1908 in Devon, arriving in imported Australian plants and first recorded in Norfolk in 2015.

Phyllonorycter quercifoliella (Common Oak Leaf-miner) A common species, but only the fifth record for Tetrad TG20E, the third modern record & first since 2017.
Coronet (Craniophora ligustri)
Pinion-spotted Pug (Eupithecia insigniata). New species for my garden (and me!) to light overnight. A small grey moth with prominent dark markings on the leading edge of the forewing with distinctive thin cross-lines. A beautifully patterned species. This is a Nationally Scarves B listed species. It's scarce in Norfolk, primarily seen in the NW of county, the Brecks as well as occasionally in Norwich. It is the first modern record for my tetrad, having previously been recorded by E.A.Atmore 1873-1913.
