We can support you with writing, presentation development and practice, academic skills support, and conversational English practice. Tip five encourages you to breathe. Midterms are a stressful time but they are not the only marker of your success/ academic knowledge. Remember to breathe. Try Balloon Belly: take a deep breath in. Breathe out a long breath like you're blowing up a balloon. Practice Dragon Puffs: Sit up straight. Breathe in then push out your breath like you're blowing out a fireball. Try Ocean Waves: Breathe in and out, slowly and calmly, like the waves on the ocean.
Image five reads: 4) Do what works for you. Ask yourself the following and then look at our suggestions: What time of day/ night do I write and study best? Give yourself time at that time of day/ night to work. Do I learn more alone or in a group? Get a study group together, find quiet spaces to study, avoid distracting conversations. Do I need noise to study and write or is quiet better for me? Organize a study schedule with your roommate where you each get alone time in your room, study in Chalmers’ reading rooms, and consider headphones to play music or listen to podcasts.
Image four offers tip 3) pace yourself—You cannot study, take notes, and write papers 24/7. You need to pace yourself by: Taking breaks to do fun things with friends. Prioritizing your health with things like trips to COX and the KAC. Honoring your body’s needs with eating, sleeping, and using the restroom (which are not breaks, but necessities). Changing up where and when you study and write to give yourself some variety.
Image three reads: 2) Use your resources. We have a lot of resources on campus ready to help you. Some include: The writing center: we can help with writing and academic skills (like test prep!) SASS: They can guide you if you have accommodations related to taking assessments (like getting more time). Cox Health: stay healthy, get mental and physical health support! MSSC: Get support on those stem courses that might be tripping you up.

1) The Kenyon Archives contain all sorts of neat info; this is where you can see someone’s 1855 bio! Question: Whose bio is it? 2) Peirce Lounge is often where we eat, but it’s also where important speakers meet. Question: who spoke here in 1947?

You’ll have until 12 noon on Friday, Feb. 14 to get pictures of (as many of) your team members as possible at each of the 8 locations and answer each clue’s question for additional points. 4. The image shows a picture of Dr. Simmons’s historical marker which reads: Ellamae Simmons, born and raised in Mount Vernon, became the first African American woman physician to specialize in asthma, allergy, and immunology in the country. Graduating in the top of her high school class, she dreamed of attending Ohio State University to become a nurse but was rejected as the program “did not have the facilities for training a young black girl.” Whenever Simmons encountered a barrier in her life, she refused to accept rejection, tenaciously steered the course of her own life, and blazed new trails for others. She ultimately earned degrees in nursing (Hampton, 1940), pre-med biological sciences (OSU, 1948), social work (OSU, 1950), and medicine (Howard University, 1959). Dr. Simmons again broke gender and racial barriers when hired by Kaiser Permanente in 1965. She practiced there until retiring in 1989. Simmons died aged 101.
