A majority (62%) would vote yes on a ballot measure to decrease the state income tax rate from 5% to 4% by 2029, while 19% would vote no, and 20% are not sure. A majority (60%) would also vote yes on a ballot measure to limit annual rent increase in Massachusetts to no more than 5%, while 26% would vote no. Fourteen percent are not sure. Half (50%) of voters would vote yes to change the current party primary system to all-party primaries, in which all candidates would be listed on the ballot regardless of party, and the top two vote getters would advance to the general election; 29% would vote no, and 21% are not sure.

FBI Portland is investigating an agent involved shooting that happened at approximately 2:15pm near the 10000 block of Main St. in Portland involving Customs and Border Patrol Agents in which 2 individuals were wounded. Mother IDs shooting victim The victim was identified by her mother as Renee Nicole Good, 37. Donna Ganger told the Minnesota Star Tribune that her daughter lived in the Twin Cities with her partner. Ganger declined to say whether she lived in Minneapolis. Ganger said the family was notified of the death late Wednesday morning. “That’s so stupid” that she was killed, Ganger said, after learning some of the circumstances from a reporter. “She was probably terrified.” Ganger said her daughter is “not part of anything like that at all,” referring to protesters challenging ICE agents. “Renee was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known,” she said. “She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being.”
A witness to Wednesday’s shooting in south Minneapolis told MPR News that she saw a federal agent shoot a woman several times. Emily Heller lives near 33rd and Portland and said she woke up to a commotion outside her home. She said she saw a car blocking traffic on Portland Avenue that appeared to be part of a protest against federal law enforcement operations. Heller said she heard ICE agents telling the driver, a woman, to “get out of here.” “She was trying to turn around, and the ICE agent was in front of her car, and he pulled out a gun and put it right in — like, his midriff was on her bumper — and he reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times,” Heller said. Heller said it appeared the woman then accelerated and traveled about 100 feet before striking a utility pole and some other vehicles. She could be seen slumped over inside her car.
To offer just a few alternative approaches: Cars could be outfitted with Intelligent Speed Assist — a far simpler technology that automatically limits the driver’s ability to exceed posted limits. Regulators could restrict the size of oversized SUVs and pickups that endanger everyone else on the road. Cities could build streets with features that are proven to reduce crashes, such as protected bike lanes, wider sidewalks, roundabout intersections and narrower travel lanes. States could legalize the installation of automatic traffic cameras that deter illegal driving. Bus and rail service could be expanded. Unlike autonomous vehicles, these strategies have been reliably shown to reduce crashes — and without AVs’ mitigating risk of expanding total car use. Many would cost a pittance and be available at lightning speed compared to the astronomically expensive, decades-long, and highly uncertain vision of replacing human-driven cars with self-driven ones.
Summary: It's Ilya and Shane's first Christmas together as an actual couple, and Ilya is a bit nervous to spend it with Shane's family. Of course, when he wakes up sick a few days before the holiday, that won't do. He can't ruin Christmas. Or, Ilya learns what it means to be cared for. Notes: Hello! I, like everyone else, am utterly obsessed with Heated Rivalry. I read Game Changers before the shows came out but I can't get these boys out of my head. This little fic came to mind this week and I had to get it out there. I'm so obsessed with the fics I've read where Ilya and Yuna bond and she shows him that he can let them in, that they want to take care of him. So I'm adding my own idea to that canon. This takes place after Heated Rivalry, their first Christmas together.
Airbnb has called on Boston and another host city, Vancouver, to temporarily loosen the restrictions surrounding short term rentals in order to free up more lodging. Boston, for example, only allows those who own their home and count it as their primary residence to rent out their space. Renters can't sublet, and people with second homes can't list that property.
