A compact mac with the back cover taken off, exposing the cramped electronics. The electronics lack the flat organization of a logic board. Odd shapes and copper coils are connected at orthogonal angles. A sticker warns of high voltages. A flyback transformer is imprisoned in a metal cage. A fragile PCB is balanced precariously atop a glass tube. A modern blue PCB with an SD card is inexpertly folded inside a large index card, and is lying loose.
A very large dark blue logic board. It is packed with components - a lot more repeating structures than you see on a regular logic board. There are a large number of heat sinks - even the RAM has heat shrouds. The board is dominated by two gigantic copper heat sinks for the G5 processors, placed side by side to sit directly behind the fans. Even the dual ethernet card has a heat sink!

A battery bombed logic board. A palm-sized patch of corrosion is evident where the lithium battery contents have sprayed out and corroded the metal enclosure the logic board sits inside. The plastic casing which the battery sits inside has detached from the logic board. The electronic traces and any nearby chips are irrevocably destroyed.

A green Macintosh logic board from 1993. The round aluminium electrolytic capacitors are gone - they have been replaced with rectangular yellow tantalum capacitors. Most of the other components have been taken off, but there is a coin cell adapter for the battery, a full fat 040 with low profile heatsink, and 2x256 kb VRAM still on the board so it will at least boot.
