An excerpt from my website under the title "commissioning" outlining updated commissioning policies: Kincaid does not accept unsolicited commissions from people they do not know. The best way to begin the process of commissioning Kincaid is to get to know them by connecting with them directly on social media, by email, or in person. Kincaid prefers creative projects to emerge organically in their friendships, minimizing the feeling of transactionality in the creation of new work. It is most likely that Kincaid will become passionate about your idea to the point that they make music for you without you being able to assemble an apparatus for funding their work, and that’s okay. After you build a friendship with them, Kincaid is open to gifting new music, bartering for a commission, paying what you can, traditional commissioning agreements, and consortium funding models.

New Music USA announces the 2026 cycle of the New Music Creator Fund, which offers grants to individual music creators working in any genre to reach the next stage of their creative practice. The program guidelines are now available on the Creator Fund program page on our website, and applications will be accepted from November 6 - November 21. In alignment with the Creator Fund’s new regional focus, the 2026 cycle is open to music creators based in the Midwest, Northeast/Mid-Atlantic, and New York. Next year’s cycle will be open to creators based in the South, West, and New York.*
