Imo it's not just AI, but moderators ruling it with an iron fist. imo it made newbies not want to ask questions.

Reddit and other sites where a lot more welcoming to newbies and more respected the concept of "no dumb questions". On the otherhand,. when it comes to the hard stuff SOs grumpy mods did mean you normally got a high quality answer to the problem (something AI is still very hit and miss with).
