I've called another man 'Dad' for over 25 years, now. He earned it, and i love him. But I still think of you as dad in my head. God knows why. I heard youve been diagnosed as autsitic at the age of 69, and that youre now forgiving yourself for everything because it was obviously The Autism That Did It. Did your autism leave us? Ok, it probably had something to do with you being utter shit at keeping in touch because object impermanence and all that, but did your autism break my heart repeatedly? Did your autism call my mother names and blame her for everything? Did your autism not turn up for my wedding? Did your autism fail to meet any of my children? I'm married to an autistic man. I'm raising autistic children. And, you know what? They're decent human beings; moral, caring, supportive. It's not to say they are perfect, because who is? But they *make an effort*. You broke me when you left. And thats not me being dramatic. I have Borderline Personality Disorder, which is recognised as being caused by trauma and abandonment. You. Left. Me. You didnt write. You seldom called. You turned up infrequently, and usually to mention casually that you were getting married/moving to scotland/having a child....oh, yeah, and to try and borrow money off of mum, who was DESTITUTE BECAUSE OF YOU. I'm so angry right now. I wish I wasn't, because being angry means you can still hurt me. And that means I still care...and I really dont want to. I wish I could cauterise the part of my brain which thinks about you. I wish i could cut out the part of my heart which wishes you loved me, even a tiny bit. I wish I could hate you. But I can't.
