A suppressed pistol being fired. The gases escaping the chamber make a loud noise even with the suppressor attached. In addition, the bullet casing is ejected which can leave behind unwanted evidence. If the slide were locked, the shot would be quieter and the casing would need to be manually ejected by pulling the slide back to load the next round. It should be noted that this can cause unnecessary stress to the frame of the weapon, but depending on the gun it can be fired a few times without issue.
