the infamous "Redneck Kong" from Donkey Kong Land
a public apology from the person who originally uploaded the song to TCRF. "So, it turns out that the "Plumber's Cave" song that started off the Wario Land: Shake It! page was actually part of an old hoax. Various people did some internet sleuthing and found that the song is actually a fanmade remix from NewGrounds. It seems this recent surge in interest came about after someone asked the game's composer, Tomoya Tomita, about it and he knew nothing about it. So then, who started the hoax? My hunch is that whatever post/upload/whatever that started the hoax was taken down, maybe even before 2010... After all, it would have been a stolen reupload of someone's remix. And then in late 2010, since I still had the song file and memory (mostly) of the information, I inadvertently revived the hoax... It didn't help that my memories were faulty and I had conflated the real incident from Little King Story and its "Bearded Freak" prerelease song. I can totally take the blame for that accidental mixup. But now that I think about it, I have to wonder what the original hoax claimed, and if maybe that somehow influenced my memory. At the very least, we have proof that our page wasn't the origin of the hoax. Someone found a 2009 YouTube upload from someone who also fell for the hoax and made a looped version of the song. Unless someone directly sent it to me, I must have found it through one of the two message boards I frequented back then. The only logical place I think of would be MFGG, though I suppose it could have been posted on ye olde Acmlm's Board. So we're still left with a mystery... who started the hoax?"
