Opponents are claiming that home owners within these village zones won’t be able to do anything with their homes, like add suites or coach houses and would have to sell if they have aspirations of adding either. Also, all trees can be removed. I can’t find anything in the zoning that supports this.

In short - yes! Let’s allow small lot single-stair walkable n’hoods - with accessible buildings as a default! It’s an important shift in urban planning for not just Vancouver but also for North America in that it aims to end the apartment ban for much of the city and allow apartments on small lots.

My only objection is the name of the plan. Village? We're taking suburban areas and upgrading them to a more urban form, and that means they now get a cutesy rural name?
