An edited image of the YouTube playback controls where the playback slider/scrubber is below the playback controls instead of above. This makes it a lot less cluttered in my opinion.

The point of comparison here is the amount of unnecessary extra padding added compared to the original. The reason why it's unnecessary is because the aforementioned screenshots show the YouTube desktop interface, meaning that the user likely has access to a mouse peripheral. The new large playback controls along with extra padding work well in a mobile computing scenario, where the user doesn't have complete precise control of where they are tapping; these larger buttons and padding changes help alleviate mis-taps in that scenario. However since the mouse is an extremely precise peripheral, padding to this extent is not needed since it's unlikely to accidentally mis-click on a playback control, making these new changes nonsensical. These new controls also happen to take up more screen real-estate compared to the old slimmer controls. However, a silver lining to this new change is that readability of some labels are improved compared to it's old counterpart, especially the timecode labels. The old gradient in the previous playback controls didn't do enough to make the labels legible in multiple scenarios, whereas the new glassmorphism-like backgrounds along with the boldness of the current timecode label help alleviate some of those issues. The background of the entire image is a white background with a subtle vignette overlayed on top of it, with both images casting a gray drop shadow at a fourty-five degree angle on to the backdrop.
