An openly corrupt ruling clique treats the state like a piggy bank, foreign allies as contributors to its investment funds, the legislature as a rubber stamp, and the judiciary as an immunity shield. The leader is an incoherent bullshit artist who is reverentially discussed as a consummate negotiator, lauded for navigating the ship of state through troubled waters as if he knows what he is doing, where he is going, and how to get there. Yet the best that can be said of this ruler is that an aimless ship is never off course even as it heads straight into the storm. These are the unmistakable signs of a political system in irreversible decline.
